Available in-home or virtually, this detailed one-on-one assessment is for dogs with significant grooming-related fear, anxiety, reactivity, or handling concerns. This appointment typically lasts 60-90 minutes to do a full assessment and Q&A session. It is intended for severe cases, including dogs with a known bite history, dogs who have been refused or dismissed by other grooming salons, or dogs who have been unable to safely complete traditional grooming appointments.
The assessment includes observation of your dog, discussion of their grooming, medical, behavioural, and adoption history where relevant, and a review of their current comfort level with handling and grooming.
Following the assessment, clients receive a written consultation summary report outlining observations, recommended next steps, and whether the Fear-Free Grooming Support Package is an appropriate fit. Custom Canine Care may determine that grooming is not currently safe or appropriate, or may recommend veterinary or other professional support before services proceed.

Brought my Bella a Great Pyrenees, lab cross to Dawn. She is 8 and She had never been groomed. I never thought I would see this day. Bella was badly matted and was not easy to brush. Dawn took her time with Bella did an amazing job with what’s she had to deal with. Unfortunately the matting was so bad we decided that a shave reset would be best. I always thought she didn’t like to be brushed. That’s not the case at all. I’m so glad I went to Dawn at Custom Canine Care her knowledge and her grooming ability is top notch. If I could have given her 10 stars I would have. Bella is such a happier girl now.
